Jonathan Gordon, Ph.D.
Director of Assessment and Adjunct Professor
Georgia Institute of Technology

Dr. Gordon is director of the Office of Assessment and an adjunct professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His principal responsibilities include the development and management of institutional effectiveness processes within the Institute, management of institutional survey research projects, and assessment and evaluation of selected sponsored research programs.

Dr. Gordon received his B.Sc. in Psychology and History from the University of Toronto and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He worked as a post-doctoral research associate in the University of North Carolina Office of Institutional Research, and then for the University System of Georgia as a research associate studying University System distance education programs. He later worked in the System Office of Strategic Research and Analysis. He joined the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2002, and has worked on many assessment, research, and evaluation projects, including the measurement of student learning outcomes in general education, longitudinal research on the effects of undergraduate engineering research experiences on minority enrollment in graduate school, and the evaluation of the Georgia Tech International and Research Plans. He is a member of the Global Engineering Excellence project, a research collaboration between Continental AG and seven universities from around the world. Dr. Gordon is an adjunct professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, where he teaches International Relations. Along with his co-authors, Dr. Gordon recently received Best Paper Award at the 2007 Annual Forum of the Association for Institutional Research for his work on validating the National Survey of Student Engagement against student learning outcomes.
