Computational Media majors need ~~FOUR~~ credits for their Senior Capstone requirement. CS4911 provides ~~three~~ of those credits.

The last credit is earned by completing a term paper that:
  1. Summarizes your coursework in Computational Media, and
  2. Connects your CS4911 work to that coursework.

The goal is to encourage reflection on your undergraduate coursework and on how it might apply to problems that you will face as a computational media professional.

You are to write a term paper (expecting at least 10 pages, double-spaced) meets these constraints:
  1. Describe four to five courses that you took as part of your undergraduate coursework (required or elective). For each, describe (a) the lessons of the course that have most influenced your thinking and in what ways, and (b) the concepts and skills of the course that you expect to use in your graduate life.
  2. At least two of these courses should relate to your CS4911 project, and you should describe how the skills and concepts from those two courses helped you complete your CS4911 project.
  3. At least two of the courses should come from your CS coursework.
  4. At least two of the courses should come from your LCC coursework.
  5. Describe how at least two of the courses interacted, e.g., how lessons from one were enforced in another, how skills and concepts were necessary for the other course, or even how you saw contradictions between the content of the two courses.

h3 Grading Criteria:

  • ~~Quality of Writing~~ (30 points): Clarity of writing, structure of document, grammar, and spelling.
  • ~~Insight~~ (20 points): Reflection on the past courses should clearly come from the perspective of a more mature and experienced student. We are looking for more than stating what was learned in terms of the course's original objectives.
  • ~~Transfer~~ (30 points): Reflection on past courses should suggest that the student sees how the lessons learned will apply in new contexts.
  • ~~Meeting Constraints~~ (20 points): Term paper meets each of the five constraints described above.
