Known Issue 29 August 2007: OIT has changed the login authentication process. The Login Authenticator will continue to function, but it will always display the error message "Logging into LAWN    ," regardless of whether your login was successful.

What is it?

The Login Authenticator is a Java application that automates the process of authenticating to use the LAWN or the CoC MobileNet networks. Instead of using a web browser and typing in your username and password, just double-click the Login Authenticator. You can configure it to either prompt you for your password every time, or just store it on the Mac OS X keychain. As long as your Mac OS X keychain password is secure, you should not need to worry about your password being stolen (See here for more information on using the Mac OS X keychain). The authenticator uses SSL and verifies the certificate chain for you, so your login credentials remain secure.

What do I need to use it?

You need to have Java 1.4.1 installed on Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) or later. If you have Java 1.3.1 installed, you can download the Java 1.4.1 update via Software Update. All recent versions of Mac OS X (Panther, Tiger) have everything you need out-of-the-box.

How do I use the Login Authenticator?

Just double-click on the Login Authenticator icon. The application will ask you for your prism (gt#) login.
