About Me

Uploaded Image: heather-backpack-small.jpg

I was born and raised in Fort Wayne, IN. I received my BS in computer science from Michigan State University. I completed my PhD in May 2005 in the College of Computing at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA. At Georgia Tech, I was a member of the Ubicomp Research Group under Gregory Abowd. My research interests are Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Supported Cooperative Work, Software Engineering, and Ubiquitous Computing.

I was a part of the Intel Opportunity Scholars Program at Georgia Tech, as well as Women@CC.

I am also a member of the INCITE lab.

I just left Atlanta for the faraway place of Charlotte, North Carolina, where I am still settling in and finding outlets for all of my hobbies. When I'm not working, you can find me rollerblading, hiking, climbing at Inner Peaks, swing dancing, or playing with my cat Sequel or my new kitten Io.
