Bridge Bidding Conventions

  • Mouse: a simple alternative to Standard American for beginning bidders. It's pretty simple and puts you into a reasonable contract that you should be able to make as a beginning player. I played this a bunch with Lex Spoon, who also believes that Standard American is too artificial.
  • Stitch: a more complex system that I like to play. It was designed to be fairly competitive. Beginners should avoid it as it'll place the bidder into a contract that may be too difficult for a beginner to make.
