Proposal Status

This is a page I am maintaining to let my committee know the status of my proposal. I have been meaning to finish my proposal for some time, but have been distracted by various things (other work, conference deadlines, illness, etc.). Instead of assigning a specific date to when I will finish a first pass at my proposal, I am keeping this page to let people know my status.

The comments that follow are chronological, with the top comments being the most recent. Anybody can add comments here, so feel free to. Please, just identify yourself.

I think I've found a strategy to start thinking about the design of AniAniWeb section. I read an interesting paper about the violin–its phylogenesis (evolution over time) and its ontogenesis (how it transitions from being an object to being an instrument for the individual). I think the task of designing an AniAniWeb is similar to the phylogenesis and the many of the research questions stem from the ontogenesis.

The more I think about it, the more I think my sources of data need to come primarily from qualitative interviews. The questions I want answered aren't going to be answered quantitatively. I feel a bit uneasy about this. I've done interviews before, but I'm not yet comfortable with how to best analyze that data. Mark suggested to talk to Amy as he feels this project is similar (both in style of intervention and style of analysis) to MOOSE Xing. As soon as I have refined my research questions, I plan on meeting with Amy.
