Janet L. Kolodner is Regents' Professor in the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology, former Executive Officer of the International Society of the Learning Sciences (ISLS) – http://www.isls.org, and Editor in Chief of The Journal of the Learning Sciences. Her Learning by Design project is described at http://www.cc.gatech.edu/projects/lbd.
Research Interests: Implications and applications of cognition to education and educational technology, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, case-based reasoning, novice-expert evolution, the role of experience in expert and common-sense reasoning, design cognition, creativity, design of decision-aiding tools and interactive learning environments.

Current Research and Education Interests:Cognitive science, artificial intelligence, educational technology, case-based reasoning, the role of experience in expert and common-sense reasoning, design cognition, creativity, the use of case-based technology in the design of decision-aiding tools and interactive learning environments.

Cooking (especially vegetarian recipes, and especially as avoidance
behavior when a proposal is due or a paper needs writing); gardening (my
vegetable garden supports my cooking habit, especially the herb garden);
