August 2000 - August 2001 Graduate Research Assistant Worked with research team to plan and execute a new version of software to support case-based science learning. Specifically, I focused on designing an indexing scheme to help learners organize their cases for future reference. Advisor: Dr. Janet Kolodner. Computing Research Association - Distributed Mentor Project - June 1999 - August 1999 Duke University, Durham, NC Worked on an application to trace user events and system calls on the PalmIII in order to understand more about power consumption and user needs in mobile computing. June 1998 - August 1998 University of Oregon, Eugene, OR Researched user needs and implemented a new user interface for the Virtual Notebook Environment (ViNE) project, an electronic notebook designed with an emphasis on the cognitive scientist's needs. My research focused on the navigation of the notebook environment and involved creating and conducting user tests.
