Download DigiQuilt

To use DigiQuilt, which is written in Squeak, you need to have:
1. the DigiQuilt "image" file
2. the DigiQuilt "changes" file
3. a Squeak "sources" file (which comes with the Squeak download)
3. the appropriate Squeak virtual machine for your computer's operating system (which can be downloaded from http://www.squeak.org). I am currently using Squeak version 3.7.

Please read the Squeak license prior to downloading this software. DigiQuilt software is built on Squeak. http://www.squeak.org/download/license.html

If you are using a Mac with a recent OS, the easiest way to get started using DigiQuilt is to download DigiQuilt.zip from the bottom of this page. Unzipping this file (which may happen automatically on your computer depending on your settings) will provide you with all that you need to get started using DigiQuilt (plus some extra files and folders that you do not strictly need, but that may make things easier).

If you are not using a Mac or if you are using an older version of the Mac OS, follow these directions instead. To get ready to use DigiQuilt, download the image and changes files from this page and put them in a folder on your computer named DigiQuilt. When you download the Squeak virtual machine, unzip or unstuff the files they provide into a folder (naming it 'Squeak3.7' or something like that will help you remember what files are in the folder). Put the folder you just made (probably named something like Squeak3.7) into the DigiQuilt folder. Go into your Squeak folder and make an alias or a shortcut to the virtual machine... mine is named 'Squeak 3.7.5Beta1'. Move that alias/shortcut into your DigiQuilt folder. To use DigiQuilt, drag the file named 'DigiQuilt.image' onto the alias/shortcut and release it. DigiQuilt should open on your screen. Press the yellow button to start making quilt designs.

When you run DigiQuilt, some folders will be created in the same directory where you placed DigiQuilt. These folders will be labeled "img" and "xml". There will also be a log file created for each username that is chosen on a given machine once you start using DigiQuilt. For the most part, you can simply ignore these folders and files.

Older versions of DigiQuilt - not all of these are ready to be used, so I'd recommend the one above the line.
